Mot Furu

Hailing from finland, Mot Furu creates music that moves between indie pop, folk, soft rock and experimental electronic sounds. Blending organic instrumentation with atmospheric textures, the band explores the space between intimacy and expansiveness, simplicity and experimentation.

Mot Furu began in 2020 as producer Ville Koivula's idea of creating a quiet musical diary — a space for personal reflections, understated melodies and musical experimentation. What started as an intimate project gradually grew into something more collaborative. Adele Laurén joined the project for its debut album, In Haspwood, by the Pines (2023), followed by Tanja Wallin, who became part of Mot Furu with the second album, Watersmeet (2024).

At the heart of Mot Furu's music lies a distinctly Nordic sense of melancholy. Their songs draw inspiration from the changing seasons, the quiet beauty of nature and the complicated emotions that shape human relationships. Themes of friendship, loss, longing and love run through their work, often carried by delicate melodies, layered arrangements and a sense of understated nostalgia.

Rather than settling into a single genre, Mot Furu embraces contrasts. Acoustic guitars meet electronic details, gentle passages give way to expansive soundscapes, and familiar songwriting traditions are reshaped through an experimental lens. The result is music that feels both personal and cinematic — equally at home in quiet moments of reflection and on a wide-open stage.

The band's independent catalogue includes the albums In Haspwood, by the Pines (2023), Watersmeet (2024) and Muted Sons (2025). With more music on the way, Mot Furu continues to explore new sounds and directions while staying close to the emotions that inspired the project in the first place.

Rooted in Finland, but reaching beyond its borders, Mot Furu invites listeners into a world of warmth, melancholy, hope and discovery.
